Tragically, a student from Aurora Christian High School passed away after a car accident in early October. He was just 16 years old.
Reports indicate that the student was riding in a Mazda 6 driven by a 17-year-old teammate from North Aurora.
As the Mazda was headed east, it appears to have drifted over the center line for reasons that the police have not yet determined. At that moment, a westbound Jeep with a 20-year-old man behind the wheel approached. The two vehicles slammed head-on into one another.
Witnesses rushed over to the vehicles as the Jeep caught on fire. They were able to help both drivers get out of their cars. However, they had to wait for firefighters to extract the 16-year-old passenger. The emergency crews then airlifted him to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, which is located in Downers Grove. Reports show that he passed away that evening.
The two drivers were also injured, and were brought to Geneva’s Delnor Hospital. While the exact injuries are not clear, authorities said that they weren’t considered life-threatening.
The two boys in the Mazda were members of the Aurora Christian High School golf team. They were on their way back from the regional tournament when the fatal collision happened.
After the accident, the school posted a statement to their Facebook page praising the student who passed away and offering condolences to the family.
When a loved one is killed in a car accident, it’s important for the survivors to know their legal rights. Financial compensation can never make up for that type of loss, but medical bills and funeral costs can be significant. Compensation can help cover those expenses during this difficult time.
